KNOWING WHAT IS COMING
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. John 16:13 NKJV
To be born again is to be indwelt by the Holy Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit renews your spirit, filling it with the very life of God, giving you eternal life - Christ in you, the hope of glory!
One very practical aspect of revelation is that God is able, and willing, to show you the future.
The heart of the mind has two great sources of information - the outward man, which gathers information by way of the physical five senses, and the inward man, which gathers information by way of the spiritual five senses. The Holy Spirit will speak truth to the inner man, which can then be transferred to and assimilated by the heart of the mind. The Spirit of God, in response to faith, can release precise and detailed information about future events, so that the believer is prepared in all ways to be more than a conqueror. Hallelujah!
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. Rom 8:37 NKJV
Preparatory revelation is one great aspect of the practical fulfilment of Romans 8:37. When you know what is coming, and have a plan for dealing with it, with proper training, you will be more than a conqueror over it, bless God forever!
How do you get preparatory revelation? The secrets of God are revealed to those who have great reverence for Him. Those with the fear of the Lord are taken into His confidence.
The LORD confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them. Ps 25:14 NIV
The world ( even worldly Christians ) mocks the things of God. Many mock speaking in tongues. I would never mock something of the Spirit of God, even if I did not understand it. I have been guilty at times of mocking other Christians, for which I have repented. Mockers do not have the fear of the Lord. If I have the fear of the Lord, I will have great reverence for God, His Word, the things of His Spirit and His people. If I have the fear of the Lord, the Lord will confide in me.
The Holy Spirit responds to faith. We often think that if we are not hearing from God, it is because He does not have anything to say to us. While this may be true, the reality most times is that we do not have faith to hear from Him. Our faith needs to be built up by the Spirit of God and the love of God. One reason why we can get revelation for others, but not for ourselves, is that we love others, but we do not love ourselves. God loves you. Why don’t you love you?
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through ( is energized by ) love. Gal 5:6 NKJV
Ask the Lord to help you get the shame and guilt out of your heart so that you can esteem yourself highly in love, and receive from Him. He redeemed you from it...now, throw that junk out!
Thirdly, ask Him. We don’t receive because we don’t ask God for specifics about the future. We hide behind unbelieving, unscriptural religious phrases like ‘if He wanted me to know, He would tell me.’ Baloney! He wants to tell us so that we can be prepared, but we don’t ask and listen. If we asked Him about the future, many disasters could be avoided, including divorces, car accidents, financial ruin and the collapse of nations.
Some people don’t ask because they don’t want the responsibility. They like to be able to blame some one else when everything goes wrong ( dear one, at the judgment seat of Christ, when you give an account of your life, you won’t be able to blame anyone else...). Take responsibility, and get the revelation that you need!
You need to understand something here - the future is not ‘set in stone.’ Read Jonah. Jonah got a genuine revelation that Nineveh would be destroyed in forty days. When the king of Nineveh and his people repented, those changing circumstances allowed God to spare the people of Nineveh, bless God forever. God reveals evil future happenings so that we can preach, pray and prepare so that He can either spare us the judgment or carry us through the storm.
Finally, believe the revelation you receive. Revelation is worthless if you don’t believe it. Get to know Him so well that when He speaks, you have perfect confidence that it is His voice. The great example for me in this reality is my wife and I. I know her voice so well because we have spent so much time together, bless God forever! It’s the same reality with you and Him. Ask Him about little things that you can easily confirm, so that you can get to know His voice.
Love Him with all of your heart, and make your love sacrificial and demanding of your time. Here is the great thing about tithing - even if you never got blessed from giving, just the heart and effort of giving ten percent of your income to God would draw you closer to Him. Effortless love has little value. Love energizes faith to hear His voice!
God can reveal the future for as far ‘down the road’ as you have faith to receive. Ask Him to show it to you, so that you can PRAYpare and be more than a conqueror, bless God forever!
Remember, dear ones, we must be about our Father’s business...
